New Homes Magazine is Chicagoland's best resource for buyers of new homes, and the best publication for advertisers who want to reach this audience. The magazine is published 10 times a year by New Homes Magazine, Inc. Issues are distributed by the first of each month, and our 3-month Winter Issue is distributed November through January.
Primary distribution is through development sales centers and brokerages, which allows us to economically reach active buyers and sellers. The print edition is distributed at 450+ locations for a run of 13,000 highly targeted copies. New Homes is all 4-color printed on upgraded stock with high-quality editorial features and
photos.

Back cover
New Homes Magazine's front and back covers offer the best print exposure available in Chicago media. Each
front cover includes a full-page 4-color photo of your development's model interior identified by a bold headline. Inside the magazine, your project is featured in an in-depth cover story with additional photos or renderings, and the development is promoted online at
YoChicago.com. For an additional fee, New Homes will design, print and mail postcards of front covers for advertisers.
The
back cover includes a full-page 4-color ad on the back cover of the magazine - the most prominent ad position - and an in-depth feature story on the designated development inside
New Homes. The featured back cover project also is promoted online at YoChicago.com
New Homes covers are reserved for major developments with photographs of finished models only. No renderings will be used on covers. Architectural photographer
Wayne Cable (312-226-0303) photographs our covers at a discounted price for
New Homes clients. Advertisers may hire another professional photographer, but all photos are subject to approval by
New Homes.
Advertisers who do not submit high-quality professionally shot cover images by the deadline will lose their cover reservation.
No project may appear more than one time on a
New Homes cover during the year.
Cover must be reserved 3 weeks prior to materials deadline and photograph must be submitted 2 weeks prior to materials deadline. Submit cover image as a high resolution digital image (no
less than 3375 x 4425 pixels). Additional shots are required for inside story.
No renderings will be used on the cover.
New Homes glossy pages
New Homes has added full-bleed glossy pages as the wrap for the magazine. The ad specs are as follows:
Cover Wrap Advertisement Specs (Inside Front Cover, Inside Back Cover, Back Cover):
Bleed = 11.125" x 14.75"
Trim = 10.875" x 14.5"
150 line Halftone screen (Color / Grayscale images should be 300 dpi, Text, vector art should be 1270 dpi)
PDF files should be PDF/A 1b 2005 (CMYK) compliant.
Ad specifications, submission
The following guidelines must be followed for all ad submissions. New Homes will not be held responsible for unexpected font replacements or color shifts resulting from improperly prepared PDF files. Adobe has many helpful tutorials to aid you in creating PDF files for print media online at www.adobe.com.
Fonts
Only type 1 fonts are acceptable. Please do not use True Type fonts. If you are exporting to a PDF using Adobe InDesign make sure to outline all of your text first.
Color
All color images must be CMYK, and all black-and-white images must be grayscale.
All color in the document (text, borders, fills, etc.) must be specified as process CMYK color.
All black used in the document (fills, text, line art) should be designated as CMYK process 100% K.
No RGB, LAB or spot color may be used anywhere in the document.
Do not use ICC profiles, OPI tags or black swatches made up of all four CMYK colors.
Image resolution, file creation
Our publication is printed on a 4-color web newsprint press using a 100-line halftone screen.
Images should have 200 dpi of resolution at their final size as placed on the page.
Ads smaller than a full page must be bordered to exact dimensions by a rule of at least .5 pts.
New Homes will only accept composite CMYK PDF files with all fonts embedded. Distiller job options are available upon request. CMYK and grayscale images should be downsampled to 200 dpi. Text and line art (monochrome images) should be at 1270 dpi. You may use distiller job options for PDFX1a, though you may want to downsample images to 200 dpi.
New Homes does not require crop marks, printer's marks or margins of any kind. The final dimensions of your PDF should be the dimensions of your ad.

Miscellany
Advertiser agrees to indemnify and hold harmless New Homes against any and all liability, expense or loss arising from claims for libel, unfair competition, unfair trade practice, infringements of the rights of others, or violation of rights of privacy resulting from the publication by New Homes of advertiser's ads.
New Homes reserves the right to reject any ad, for any reason, at its sole discretion.
New Homes will not be liable for failure to publish any ad for any reason.
Advertisers forwarding orders which contain incorrect rates or conditions are advised that advertising will be inserted without further notification to advertiser, at the correct rates and subject to all of the conditions of this rate card.
Apart from the premium pages which are sold on a first come, first served basis, no position request can be guaranteed. Premium positions (front and back covers) may not be reserved within a 6-month period by the same advertiser.
